FAQ

Frequently asked questions about Sölkpass

How high is Sölkpass?

Sölkpass reaches an elevation of 1,788 metres in Styria.

Is Sölkpass worth riding by motorcycle?

The Sölkpass is one of the most remote and unspoilt passes in Styria, connecting the Enns valley in the north with the Mur valley in the south. The entire northern approach winds through the Sölktäler Nature Park – almost no traffic, green alpine meadows and a feeling as if time has stood still. The final climb from the north is demanding: the road narrows and steepens, and the hairpins come in quick succession. Corners alternate between sweeping and tight, creating a varied rhythm. The summit itself offers little panoramic view but the road more than compensates with pristine mountain scenery. From the south a faster section with less intense bends descends into the Mur valley. Those who don't know the Sölkpass will be pleasantly surprised – it is a genuine insider tip away from the crowded alpine passes. The AlpinChaser riding score is 3.9 out of 5.
